This phenomenon was described by Isabelle Boyer and Luciana Radut-Gaghi in a 2021 article published online by Laval University in Canada.Fake news based on stereotypes “makes it easier to form opinions and helps to reinforce pre-existing beliefs, ” according to the article. Topics that generate a lot of disinformation are often related to politics, health, and the environment.
